Beacon Park's 103 homes head to the planning board Nov. 10
A new neighborhood proposed near the community park, flooded mangroves, and a Halloween with no set hours.
A 58.5± acre stretch south of Jupiter Community Park, tucked between Limestone Creek Road and the I-95 interchange, is now on the town's hearing calendar. Residents get three public hearings to weigh in, ending with the Town Council's second reading Jan. 19, 2027.
Three public hearings stand between the Beacon Park plan and a final town decision. All are set for 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 210 Military Trail. The Local Planning Agency and Planning and Zoning Commission take it up first, on Nov. 10. Town Council follows with a first reading Dec. 15 and a second reading Jan. 19, 2027. The site sits below Jupiter Community Park and above Indiantown Road. Limestone Creek Road borders it to the east, with the I-95 interchange to the west. The applications ask for a large-scale planned unit development with waivers, plus a site plan for 103 single-family homes. None of it is approved yet. For people who live near the park, Nov. 10 is the earliest chance to weigh in. The case numbers are PZ 26-6820 and 25-6630.
King tides flood Blowing Rocks Preserve, closing its trails
At peak high tide, black mangroves at the Nature Conservancy's preserve stand in about 2 feet of water, though their roots usually stay above it. Trails were closed as of Tuesday, and drainage pipes were underwater. On Monday the rising water reached an internet cable and knocked out service at the education center. “This is some of the most extreme flooding I've seen outside of hurricane season,” said James Byrne, the Conservancy's director of strategy in Florida. The Conservancy is also pressing voters to weigh what their property taxes pay for before casting ballots Nov. 3.
No official trick-or-treat hours in Jupiter this Halloween
No trunk-or-treat is posted for Halloween night, Saturday, Oct. 31. The town's free Spooktacular already happened Oct. 17 at the Jupiter Community Center, complete with a monster maze, inflatables and trick-or-treating. Busch Wildlife Sanctuary held its trail trick-or-treat Oct. 25. That leaves neighborhood streets, on whatever schedule each household picks. The skate park contest below runs from 2 p.m. into the evening. Clocks change overnight, too, since daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 1, the morning after.
