Jupiter launches its first town fire department Oct. 1
Plus a boil water order on two streets and a full-day Community Center closure.
Good morning. A boil water order covers two streets, the Community Center calendar conflicts with itself, and Jupiter is preparing to switch fire-service providers next month.
Jupiter Fire Rescue begins service Oct. 1, taking over from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue inside town limits. It will be Jupiter's first town-run fire department and its first dedicated local service since fire operations merged into the county system in 1985.
The town has sworn in its inaugural firefighters and held a push-in ceremony for its first engine. Fire Chief Darrel Donatto said 29 people joining the department are from Jupiter. The crews are training before they begin responding from a new Jupiter fire station.
Community Center calendar entries conflict today
The town calendar lists the Community Center at 200 Military Trail as closed today. The stated reason is wood-floor resurfacing, with the closure running from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A second town calendar entry lists toddler open gym at the same address from 8:15 to 11 a.m. The two official entries overlap.
If you have a class, meeting or recreation plan there today, confirm it with the town before leaving home. The all-day closure is the safer listing to plan around until Jupiter resolves the conflict.
Flavor South Florida deals reach Jupiter tables
Flavor South Florida runs through Sept. 30, with prix fixe menus across the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast starting at $25. Jupiter restaurants are part of the monthlong promotion.
At Beacon, 1107 Lighthouse Road, the current offer is three courses for $49. Main-course choices include Faroe Island salmon, spicy lobster pasta, a smash burger and chicken Milanese; filet mignon is a $15 supplement.
The first-course list includes spicy tuna rice, shrimp cocktail and corn bisque. Dessert is key lime pie or gelato. Menus can change, so check the current offer and reservation availability before going.
Boil water order covers Via Cameron and Via De La Palma
A boil water order is in effect for Via Cameron and Via De La Palma. The town posted the notice on Sept. 1, and it applies to utility customers on those two streets.
Residents on the affected streets should follow the town's boil-water guidance for drinking, cooking, making ice and brushing teeth. Keep doing so until Jupiter publishes a lift notice.
The alert names those two streets only. If that is your block, check the town notice for updates before using tap water for food or drinks.
Marlynn Glaub named to Team USA for junior world surfing championship
Marlynn Glaub, 15, is a North Palm Beach surfer who trains in Jupiter. She was selected for Team USA at the ISA Junior Championships in El Salvador.
Glaub is one of three female athletes on the U.S. roster. She is a six-time East Coast champion and has spent two years on the USA Junior National Team.
The championship runs Sept. 4-13 and brings athletes from 50 to 60 countries. This will be Glaub's first ISA competition.

Jupiter's Toddler Open Gym is a free Thursday play option for children ages 0 to 4. The format has three 45-minute sessions between 8:15 and 11 a.m., and a parent must stay and facilitate rather than drop off a child.
The town supplies mats, blocks, giant Legos, balls, trikes and climbing equipment. The gym setting gives toddlers room to move and interact with children their age without a fee.
The Sept. 3 listing conflicts with today's separate maintenance closure, so do not treat that session as confirmed. Use the program details when checking a later Thursday on the town calendar.
