Bush Road and Tony Penna lane closures start Aug. 13
Two phases of road work, a Community Center shutdown, and a free e-bike course with a September deadline.
Construction on Tony Penna Drive and Bush Road brings two rounds of temporary lane closures this month, and Bush Road takes the first one alone. The opening phase runs August 13 through August 18, with lane closures on Bush Road for roadway widening. The second phase runs August 19 through August 21, with lane closures on both Tony Penna Drive and Bush Road for asphalt paving. That works out to six straight days of restrictions on Bush Road, followed by three more days affecting both roads, or nine consecutive days of construction-related lane closures if the schedule holds. Drivers using Tony Penna Drive are clear until August 19 under the posted plan, while Bush Road is affected in both phases and carries the full nine-day span. Traffic will be maintained throughout the project, so the closures take lanes rather than shutting either road. The dates are anticipated and subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, which means the paving window could land later than August 21 and push the rest of the sequence with it. Jupiter police launch a free online e-bike safety course
Jupiter police have launched a free e-bike safety course that runs entirely online, and it is open to all ages rather than limited to students. Riders who finish the course by September 15 are entered into gift card raffles. There is no age cutoff, so a parent can take it as easily as a middle schooler, and September 15 is the only deadline attached to it. The course carries no cost, and because it runs online there is no class session to attend in person and no fixed meeting time to work around, leaving roughly six weeks to complete it before the raffle entry window closes. Community Center closes Aug. 29 through Sept. 7
The Community Center is on summer hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the building closed Saturday and Sunday. Two closures follow at the end of the month. The main gym closes August 24 through August 28, five days with that space out of use while the rest of the building keeps its weekday hours. The full Community Center then closes Saturday, August 29 through Monday, September 7 for annual facility maintenance, a ten-day stretch with the whole building out of service. Put together, the gym is unavailable from August 24 straight through September 7, and weekend access is already off the table under summer hours. Harbourside Place runs a standing weekday lineup
Harbourside Place keeps a set of recurring events on the waterfront, most of them landing on the same day each week. Margarita Monday runs at Calaveras Cantina, which also takes Tuesday with a taco night. Jupiter Grill counters on the same evening with lobster, so Tuesday is the crowded one downtown. Twilight Yoga returns to the Lighthouse on Aug. 10
Twilight Yoga returns to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse on August 10 as part of the Wellness at the Light series. Sessions run every Monday, which makes August 10 one date in an ongoing run rather than a one-off, and anyone who misses it has the following Monday. Storytime & Crafts for Kids is set for August 12 at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Plant a Tree at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse gives visitors a way to add to the grounds of the historic light station.
