A Jupiter couple, Oscar and Roberta Cash, are suing Publix over GreenWise Organic Frozen Blueberries they say they bought in late May. Both developed diarrhea, fever, and cramps, according to their account as reported by WPTV. Roberta Cash was hospitalized for 12 days and then spent 18 days in a rehabilitation facility. The hospital identified E. coli O145. Earlier in July, the FDA and CDC traced that rare strain to contaminated GreenWise Organic Frozen Blueberries sold at Publix. The couple's attorney told WPTV that 11 illnesses had been reported in Florida and one in Georgia as of that point. The suit seeks compensation for medical expenses. These are allegations in a civil case that has not been decided, and no court has ruled on them. WPTV reported that Publix had not responded to its request for comment by publication.
